An Informal Scottish Wedding Who says you need all the trimmings to have the best wedding in Scotland ? Pat and I were married in August 2008 and it was a brilliant day. We kept things simple. The ceremony was held in Aberdeen's Town House:
I piped everyone out (well, why not):
The reception was held at the Woodend Barn, a great venue with lots of space inside and outside. The Wicked Chef provided a gorgeous buffet:
The dance band was a "ceilidh supergroup" formed on the spot, with a cast of thousands from yousedancin?, Hogtie, Iron Broo, Hallyrackit and featuring recent graduates of the Centre of Excellence for Traditional Music...
The Woodend Barn is a great venue for a dance, with plenty of space and nice acoustics.
The happy couple dancing the Gay Gordons
The Dashing White Sergeant
The Riverside Jig ...with plenty of fresh air when you need a break from dancing...
Table arrangements were courtesy of Kirsty Thomson and The Centre for Video Communications:
And we entertained the guests with some music and Scottish step dance:
Here is how we kept the wedding simple and informal:
Would we do it the same way again? Definitely! Photos (c) Niall Hepburn 2008
